Grief can be a mixed bag of emotions. The effect of the grief cycle can have affects on our physical and emotional being.

During our grief journey, it’s important to look for the “Good” in the situation; the small moments of gratitude (sometimes, microscopic) and the moments that we feel we have it “together” (even if we really don’t).

Good, Grief Retreats” was created for those reasons and so many more. Born after a tragic loss of her best friend and husband, and the need to find a way to move through the grief and loss, founder Danielle Marshall sought a healthy way to cope, heal and show others how to do the same.

“I needed to find a way to hold on to what seemed like so many pieces of my heart…my life that had been shattered. It felt like those pieces were constantly breaking into smaller pieces and grief, heaviness, despair, and the feeling of emptiness were never ending.” (Truly a 24/7 of exhaustion in every way imaginable) (D.Marshall)

FOUNDER

Danielle Marshall, MBA, Veteran, USAF

After a sudden loss and a grief journey that at times seemed so overwhelming, Danielle decided to create “Good, Grief Retreats” to assist other women with finding ways to heal, adapt and embrace a “new normal” that is often not normal at all.

“I decided to turn the tragedy in my life into something constructive for myself and others in an effort to heal”. So many times since the loss of my husband, others would tell me “you’ll feel better in time” or “you’ll be back to normal before you know it.”

I came to the realization, that things would be new, not necessarily normal. and would never be the way they were when my husband was here. I also decided to focus on the beautiful memories when I felt the most alone and look forward to understanding the version of myself I was becoming in an unfamiliar space. I’ve learned focusing on the good things, no matter how small can show us all that grief is manageable. It’s Good, Grief Retreats” over time.
